Rui Hong’s yearn for success was further strenghtened by the following happenings. Her mother had to work very hard to support the family after her divorce, and her sister had to drop out of school to financially support Rui Hong’s education.
After graduation from college, she partnered with a schoolmate to start a computer business. With hard work, the business was good.
However, she was taken by surprise one day when her partner went into hiding after ransacking the company. Rui Hong had to face all the debts alone.
She returned to her village, and soon, she got married through a friend’s recommendation as she needed someone to rely on. A few years later, she gave birth to a daughter. She discovered that her husband was unfaithful to her. The setbacks in both career as well as marriage made Rui Hong look haggard. Her yearning for a blissful life did not materialized.
